Jim Danner and Kelly Kalish
Captains and Chef + crew of four
Jim joined Saint James in 1994
while still under construction. Jim started out in boating the hard way, working on
various crew boats and offshore oil rigs. His natural gravitation to yachting led him to
the east coast and gulf shores with the Mariner III. Having been with Saint James for 3
years now as both captain and project foreman, Jim is extremely knowledgeable in all
aspects of boats. In addition to his U.S. Coast Guard Captains license, Jim is also
CPR/First Aid and advanced open water dive certified. Jim enjoys travel and the study of
languages so he feels very fortunate to have lived and worked abroad while mastering the
Spanish, French and German languages. Jim's extensive world travels also serve well when
it comes to island information and activities, and he admits he is thrilled to be now
traveling to some of his favorite islands on such and elegant vessel! In his free time,
Jim still competes as a professional bareback bronco and bull rider on the PRCA rodeo
circuit. Being a devoted Christian, Jim keeps foremost in his life the religious values
learned as a child in his rural hometown of Blackwater, MO.
Kelly began her formal training as a chef
with a 2 year apprenticeship to a Cordon Blue Master Chef. Since her entry into yachting,
Kelly has already established herself as the chef on such Megayachts as Trilogy, Second
City, and Twilight and has placed second in the BSA Charter Show Hospitality
contest, Paradise Island 1996! Kelly has also gathered experience working as a personal
chef to well known stars such as Steve Martin and Billy Crystal as well as Pastry Chef for
Wits End Resort and Executive Chef for Harmels Resort in Colorado. Kelly holds Advanced
First Aid and CPR certificates. Being an avid outdoor sportsman, Kelly uses her free time
water-skiing, roller blading, kayaking, mountaineering, scuba diving and flying. Kelly
loves the glamorous job of working on yachts, the travel and meeting all the interesting
charter guests; but most of all, she loves cooking!
